Every watch on this site is professionally authenticated before it is listed. Not "checked over", not "looks right to us" — authenticated, as a condition of being offered at all. This page explains what that means for you as a buyer, and why it is the whole basis of buying from a private dealer instead of a stranger's photo set.
What authentication actually protects you from
The pre-owned market's real risks are rarely the crude fake. They are the subtler things: a genuine watch with a replaced dial or hands, a movement swapped from a lesser reference, undisclosed water damage, a case polished past its original lines, papers that belong to a different serial. None of those show up in a marketplace listing photo. All of them show up under professional examination.
What we commit to on every listing
- Professionally authenticated. Each piece is authenticated before it lists. If a watch cannot be authenticated to our satisfaction, it is not offered — there is no "sold as-is, probably fine" tier here.
- Condition described as found. The listing describes the watch as it actually is — original or softened bevels, hairlines, bracelet wear. Nothing is talked up.
- The photos are the watch. Every photograph on a listing is of the exact piece you receive, taken in our Los Angeles studio. No stock imagery, no brand renders, ever.
- Papers and boxes stated plainly. "Full set" means the items listed on that watch's page, photographed with it. Missing papers are disclosed and priced accordingly — a missing set is not a scandal; an undisclosed one is.
Why this beats a marketplace listing
A marketplace listing is a photo and a promise from someone you'll never meet, backed by a dispute process. Here, the person who had the watch authenticated and photographed is the person you're dealing with. Ask any question about any piece — the answer comes from Robert directly, about that specific watch, usually the same day.
And because we're in Los Angeles, you can do the one thing no marketplace offers: book a private appointment, and put the watch on your wrist before any money moves. If you'd rather not come in, everything ships fully insured with signature confirmation.
